Colorful and ecstatic images can be found in the mystical view of the world, in almost all civilizations. This mystical view places man above his daily experiences and enables him to contemplate the spiritual kingdom of heaven in an environment of magnificent images.
Omid Hallaj’s recent paintings are an attempt to discover a vibrant world and a paradise of light. He sketches the turmoil of accepting the fatalism of power with an allusion to death and the experience of pain. An iconic world of flora, oceans and colorful environments covers this two-way voyage. He explores the holy gates to carry us along in his delightful world, but along with this divinity he questions it with hallowed blasphemy. In a world exhilarating with passion to discover signs, the flames of black liquid on the flight of steps, remind us of the altar of sacrifice, sin or inevitable punishment. We transform the body or rediscover it, this time, with vibrant feet, we jump in the bright pond of joy or in the swamp of transience to attend the ball of reveries. We swim in milk and face birds of paradise as our image appears in the hall of the palace of floating creatures, or we endure the bitterness of death, according to a destined command. Where is this voyage meant to end? In nowhere, under the shadow of a coloured ink in the sleep of death?
We are awakened in a world far from light.
